11:30am-12:15pm LATIN CONTEMPORANIO with Alfonso Cervera
As a Queer Mexican American, my body is in a constant negotiation of how my identities can co-exist together within the same dance space. Therefore, this class will embody LatinX social dance forms so that we can collectively establish a foundation of aesthetics and rhythms to inform our approach of release technique.

2:45PM-3:00PM CONTEMPORARY with Liz Sexe
My dance class is a place where control and chaos meet in unison and where the technician becomes the artist. The residues of the classical and modern forms like ballet, Horton, Limón, and Cunningham still exist yet I include many contemporary elements such as task based improvisation. Conditioning is also an intricate part of class which is done using my “animal kingdom” phrases. This system is inspired by many somatic forms but is grounded in Pilates. Rhythmic and qualitative challenges are often used as feats to let dancers push themselves in a safe and playful way. **This same class will take place twice during the week so that participants can build and grow within the movement. We encourage all levels to participate for a challenge!**

Tuesday August 11:

9:00am-9:45am STOTT MAT PILATES with Piper Morgan Hayes
STOTT Pilates is the contemporary approach to Joseph Pilates' teachings and body awareness. In class, you'll need a mat or a comfy surface as the movement primarily occurs on the spine, hands, soles of feet and knees. STOTT Pilates focuses heavily on use of the breath, scapular movement and stabilization, ribcage placement, cervical and head placement and pelvic placement. We will strengthen our core using the four sets of abdominal muscles we are all equipped with and will add the use of our limbs, serving as levers, to increase the level of difficulty. Lots of fun imagery will accompany the movements and exercises!

11:30am-12:15pm YOGA/MOBILITY WORK with Nicole Roerick
This class will be a blend of Breathwork, Yoga/Mobility work, and Improvisational Movement Explorations within the body. The structure of the class will be rooted in self discovery and channeling energy and sensation in the body. The movement will consist of creating fluidity in the spine and pelvis and noticing the connection and work they do together. There are so many ways we can move the body and this class will be a way to let go of habits and try to find new ways of movement. Most of the class will be led but there will be some room for your own creativity. The class will involve a lot of physicality within the body as well as connecting to the mind and emotional sensations we experience. Accessible for all levels!

In my dance class, we will explore ballet with a "twist," which includes technical yet risk-taking contemporary movements and elements!  Our warm-up and center combinations will focus on balance, body alignment, strength and stability, fluidity within our breath and movement, and dancing with our whole bodies.  In this safe and inclusive space, we will further investigate artistry by allowing our own individuality to radiate out through our movement as we grow our performance skills within a choreographic phrase.  In addition, I will also guide you through improvisational movement that will give us the opportunity for self-expression to move creatively.

Saturday August 15:

10:00am-10:45am CONDITIONING AND HYDRATION with Natalia Schradle
This class is a fun way to stabilize major muscle groups, release tension, and get back on track after a week of new movement experiences! In this 45 minute session, we will draw from tools found in pilates, yoga, and massage. Bring a full length foam roller if you have one OR towels/blankets. I also like to have yoga blocks/books/soup cans to support some of the movements. For this experience, a yoga/pilates mat would be good to use, but otherwise make sure you are in a clean/obstacle free space where you could take a yoga class. Be ready both to strengthen and relax!

11:00am-11:45am INVERSIONS AT THE WALL with Megan Thompson
Class will begin with a warm-up focusing on breath, stretching and isometric exercises. We will prepare and strengthen the wrists, open the shoulders and activate the abdominals before integrating these things into more complex static positions like plank and eventually handstand. From there, we'll transition to the wall moving in and out of inversions playfully and dynamically.
